THE PROBLEM
A common, painful disease with no therapy that treats its cause.
CPPD is a crystal-induced arthritis: calcium pyrophosphate crystals form in the joint and trigger painful inflammation. It mostly affects adults over 60 and can lead to chronic pain, disability and joint replacement.
OUR APPROACH
Treat the cause, not just the flare.
We're developing the first disease-modifying small molecule for calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease (CPPD), stopping crystal formation at its source.
Pyrophosphate (PPi) is the building block of CPPD crystals. Our lead program, ANA1, lowers PPi in the joint to limit crystal formation, aiming to be the first disease-modifying therapy for CPPD, with a biomarker we can measure.
OUR PILLARS
A large patient need, a mechanism aimed at the root cause, and a team that knows how to get to the clinic.
High Unmet Need
4–7% of adults have a form of CPPD. We aim to be the first disease-modifying therapy with a measurable biomarker.
Novel Mechanism
PPi drives CPPD crystal formation. Lowering PPi targets the disease at its root cause.
Deep expertise and a track record of moving fast from pre-IND into the clinic.
